Our volunteers at FGSCC are the best!
We would like to recognize our VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH for June 2018
Billie Johnson has volunteered at the FGSCC for 10 years. She started out at the front desk and then moved to the gift shop. She came to the center to meet people after moving here to be close to family. Billie was an Aerographer Mate ( they observe, collect, record, and analyze meteorological and oceanographic data) during the Korean War. After her service she used her GI bill to attend college. She became a Spanish teacher in Ohio and later the school Librarian. She was also the Commander in the American Legion for 3 years and still participates in functions for them.
In her free time, she enjoys line dancing, yoga, swimming and exercise classes. She also likes playing games and cards with friends, like Jim Pitstick that she met at the center while having lunch. Thank you, Billie, for your service to our country and your time you give the center. We are honored to have you here!
